Foster a love for reading through storytelling and Literature - based activities LIMITED
Limited Capacity seats available

As teachers, we all want our children to develop a love for reading. We want them to explore fiction to develop imagination and creativity, we want them to discover the wild, space, history, culture and the arts, anatomy, and learn about other countries through nonfiction or informational books. Reality bites , this is a hard feat to accomplish. We have a competition - technology. Why do they have to read when they can just Google everything? With just a click, they can use resources and choose. Will books be a thing of the past? I hope not. As teachers, we need to strike a balance.

Reading enables children to develop discipline and stamina. Reading books provide children with the right attitude to develop persistence. It will make them ask, explore and imagine. How then can we help? What are the things that we can do to engage  and immerse children into a book?

I love reading and collecting children’s books. On my first year of teaching, I learned that a rich collection of  literature helps teachers develop a wide array of meaningful, theme targeted activities for children. Literature based activities help us help children develop a love for reading, whereby reading becomes a reward in itself. For us teachers, planning for lit. based activities allow us to “play” , be creative and step out of the box.
